Microsoft’s Your Phone app is getting a new look for Windows 11

Windows 11 has already come our way and is available for installation on eligible devices. It brings a lot of improvements and new looks of several applications like Your Phone App. This app is getting its own redesign, according to teasers shared during the Surface event.

Your Phone app, which helps link your Android and desktop together, is getting a new design with a focus on the notification center built into the app. This news was shared during the Surface event, where the app’s redesign will help you focus on what’s happening on your Android phone without having to constantly pick it up.

Currently, the Your Phone app UI for Windows 10 and Windows 11 has a few sections on the side menu, including Notifications, Messages, Calls, and Apps (on select Samsung phones and the Surface Duo only). All of these sections are separate, so you can only see one of them at a time.

But this is going to be changed now. Microsoft is replacing the menu on the left side of the app with a notification feed, so notifications are always accessible as you navigate the rest of the app. Just like before, you can reply to notifications or take action on them from your PC this way.

If you’re not used to receiving notifications on your PC, you can completely mute notifications from any app installed on your phone. Of course, if you have received an important notification, you can click on the pin icon to pin the alert to the top of the notifications center.

The different sections have been moved to the top of the app window, and they work like they used to. You can access your phone’s apps, make calls, and send SMS messages from your PC.

There are going to be some extra options that will help you to read and reply to the text messages, view and manage photos on your phone and edit them using Paint or other programs. You can also make phone calls and even use Android apps on your PC with Surface Duo and Galaxy phones.

It is being also reported that the UI changes in the Your Phone app will mirror the overall look of the upcoming Windows 11 upgrade.

Microsoft hasn’t announced any plans to bring apps and screen projection to more Android phones outside of the Surface Duo and Samsung Galaxy phones. Plus, iPhone users are similarly out of luck, since the app still doesn’t work with iPhones.

However, it is not yet clear if there’ll be any new features for the Your Phone app and when this update will begin rolling out to users. So we just have to wait until all of this becomes reality.
